POLICIES, PROCEDURES, & GUIDELINES:

Before participating, participants should review the SCGA’s Policies & Procedures.

 

STRACKALINE YARDAGE BOOK:

The SCGA and StrackaLine have teamed up to allow our participants the availability to purchase StrackaLine Yardage & Green booklets at a 20% discount. Click here to purchase your StrackaLine Booklet. All booklets conform to the Rules of Golf and may be used in tournament play.

 

FORMAT:

  • 54-hole stroke play championship
  • 84 players will play 18-holes each day on Monday, June 23 & Tuesday, June 24.
  • Cut to the low 30 scores and ties for the final 18-holes on Wednesday, June 25.
  • Awards will be given to those who finish in 1st through 5th place. In the event of a tie for first place, there will be a three-hole aggregate playoff immediately following the conclusion of regular play.
  • This championship is a World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) counting event.

 

EXEMPTIONS AWARDED:

 

(1)   Champion receives the following:

  • 10-year exemption into the SCGA Senior Amateur Championship.
  • 3-year exemption into the California Senior Amateur Championship.
  • Exemption into current year SCGA Amateur & SCGA Senior Match Play Championships.
  • Exemption into following year SCGA Mid-Amateur Championship.
  • Locally exempt from U.S. Senior Open Qualifying in following year.

 

(2)   Top-10 and ties receive the following:

  • Exempt into current year California Senior Amateur Championship.

 

(3)   Top-5 and ties receive the following:

  • Exempt into following year’s SCGA Senior Match Play Championship.

 

REGISTRATION:

All players are to check in with the SCGA near the Driving Range to receive their player gift and to acknowledge that they are on the property at the championship.

 

PRACTICE ROUNDS:

  • Players may plan for practice rounds at their own expense.  Practice rounds are available after June 10th based on a space available basis (with limited availability on weekends). 
  • Practice Round Fee: $70 (M-Th): $120 (F-Su) Payable in person before your practice round inside the Golf Shop.  Carts are included.
  • Practice rounds are a privilege, not a right. The SCGA works with various facilities throughout the year, all of which have unique policies and procedures regarding practice rounds. The host facility will provide these opportunities at their sole discretion.
  • We are guests and must follow all facility policies and guidelines when on property. Behavior during practice rounds will be subject to the SCGA Code of Conduct.

 

STARTING TIMES AND PAIRINGS: 

  • Starting times and pairings will be e-mailed to players and posted online at scga.org one week before the championship.  The Mid-Amateur Championship & Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship are held concurrently at Soule Park GC.
  • Round 1 starting times: 8 a.m. – 10:10 a.m., utilizing a #1 and #10 tee start.
  • Round 2 starting times: 8 a.m. – 10:10 a.m., utilizing a #1 and #10 tee start.
  • Round 3 starting times: 7 a.m. – approx. 8:50 a.m., utilizing a #1 tee start. (The low 30 scores + ties)
  • Lead groups should plan to be at their assigned tee 10 minutes before their starting time. Subsequent groups are encouraged to arrive once the preceding group has teed off. Players arriving late will be penalized under Rule 5.3a of the Rules of Golf. For example, the 9:00 a.m. starting time is defined as 9:00:00, and players arriving after that time are considered late.

 

TEES & YARDAGE:   

All yardages and course information can be found in the Yardage Information tab located on the Championship Portal.

 

DRIVING RANGE:

  • The driving range will be available by 6:30 a.m. each morning of the championship. 
  • Range balls will be provided compliments of Mission Viejo CC and the SCGA.

 

FOOD SERVICE & PURCHASES:

  • The Terrace Grill will be open at 6:30 a.m. each day.
  • The SCGA will provide players lunch on Monday and Tuesday of the championship.  Players will be responsible for all other food and beverage purchases.
  • Caddies and spectators may make purchases from the Terrace Grill.
  • Reciprocal charge and all major credit cards (except Discover) are all accepted payments on property.

 

RULES OF PLAY:

 

GOLF CARTS, PULL/PUSH CARTS:

  • Golf carts are optional at the player’s expense during the championship ($20 per player); however, players who are able and willing to walk may do so. Cash and credit cards are accepted in the golf shop.
  • There will be a maximum of two carts per group and two bags per cart. Players wishing to ride will be expected to share a cart with another player.
  • Each player is entitled to one seat in a cart. If a player brings a caddie, the caddie may ride provided there is a vacant seat in one of the carts. Otherwise, either the player or the caddie must walk.
  • Drivers must be at least 16 years of age (or older if club policy dictates).
  • Pull or push carts are permitted.  There are none that are available for rental.

 

CADDIES & SPECTATORS:

  • Players may provide their caddie (see the section on golf carts).
  • Spectators are permitted but are not allowed in carts. Spectators must adhere to all policies set forth by the facility.

 

DRESS CODE:

Appropriate golf attire must be worn, including adhering to any facility-specific policies.

 

CANCELATIONS & REFUNDS:

  • To withdraw for any reason before the start of an SCGA competition, a player must notify the SCGA Championships & Golf Operations Department at champs@scga.org.
  • Failure to notify the SCGA will subject the player to suspension from future SCGA competitions.
    • Refund Policy:
      • Cancelation before the entry closing date: Full refund less a $20 administrative fee.
      • Cancelation after the entry closing date and more than 48 hours before the start of the competition: 50% of the entry fee.
      • Cancelation within 48 hours of the start of the competition: No refund.
